Arkema, a global leader in Specialty Materials, added ten coating solutions production sites to the list of ISCC PLUS certificated facilities in 2025. To date, the Group has now obtained certification of more than 70% of its coating facilities worldwide, including those dedicated to advanced liquid resins, waterborne resins, rheology and specialty additives, powder resins, UV/LED/EB technologies and acrylic monomers. This milestone enables to offer a broad portfolio of bio-attributed solutions with carbon footprint (PCF) of at least -20% compared to fossil-based equivalents.

This achievement supports customers in implementing more sustainable solutions for coatings & adhesives as well as related applications that contribute to energy and infrastructure efficiency, e-mobility, new technologies, urbanization, living comfort, and more.

Our approach to certification has been methodical and strategically aligned in those areas where will have the greatest positive impact across the value chain.
Today, we have achieved ISCC PLUS certification across our global network for a wide range of coating technologies, from monomers to advanced resins and specialty additives. This ensures that customers worldwide now have access to bio-attributed(1) grades that help them significantly reduce their product carbon footprint and accelerate their sustainability goals.”

Additionally, in 2025, Arkema Coating Solutions announced a range of partnership and cooperative initiatives with suppliers, distributors, formulators and end user organizations that supported the company’s short- and long-term commitments to reducing the product carbon footprint of coatings and related products worldwide. “We believe the only way the industry reaches the goals we have set for ourselves is to work together” Jenkins said. “Innovation at the raw material level only works if it matches the efforts at the formulator – and even end user – levels. Arkema has been very successful in finding upstream and downstream partners who understand that way of thinking – and who are working with us to make the changes needed.”

(1) A bio-attributed content indicates that the use of a biobased or recycled feedstock has been ascribed using a massbalance methodology. The bio-attributed content is the % breakdown based on the ISCC+ methodology calculation. [Source Arkema]

(2) The mass balance traceability chain is a method used to track the flow of materials through a production system. and attribute the inputs of a production process, to outputs of that production process through certified bookkeeping. This distinct accounting method verifies that the certified feedstock has replaced an equivalent quantity of fossil raw materials at the beginning of the supply chain and can be attributed to the product-to-be-sold, ensuring that both input and output are balanced.
