Conformal coatings: Material selection for targeted performance
Our unique solutions for UV, UV + moisture, or UV + thermal polymerization enable our customers to reach their desired material properties in conformal coating applications.
What is a conformal coating?
A conformal coating is a 12.5 – 200 μm thin transparent polymeric coating applied to the surface of printed circuit boards (PCB) and other electronic components. It's functions are to:
- Provide protection from the end-use environment
- Improve reliability of solder joints in leadless packages
- Provide mechanical support for larger components
Achieve targeted performance
Sartomer® solutions enable a variety of benefits:
- Lower VOC emissions
- Water resistance
- Low dielectric loss
- Adhesion to various substrates
- Scratch and abrasion resistance
